In 2008, the Victorian Department of Health commissioned a project to investigate best-practice teaching and learning environments within health services for clinical training of undergraduate and early-graduate learners in health professions. For this project, over the next five years, darcy associates undertook a series of projects to develop and refine the Best Practice Clinical Learning Environments (BPCLE) Framework, create an accompanying suite of resources and a performance monitoring framework, pilot the implementation of the framework in Victorian health services and develop an online implementation tool.
In 2009, darcy associates was engaged to assist the Council of Victorian Health Deans to develop a new model of governance for the management and organisation of clinical placements in Victoria.
This project led to the establishment of the Victorian Clinical Placement Council (VCPC), which provides statewide leadership and advice on professional-entry clinical placement issues, and eleven Clinical Placement Networks (CPNs), which facilitate locally driven, stakeholder-led clinical placement initiatives.
In 2010, darcy associates was engaged by the Department of Health to design an evaluation framework for the Victorian Data Linkages (VDL), an initiative funded jointly by the Victorian state government and the Australian Government, which is responsible for providing similar data linkage infrastructure in Victoria as exists – or is being developed – in other Australian jurisdictions.
In 2012, darcy associates was engaged by the Victorian Department of Health to design an evaluation framework for Well Placed. Well Prepared: Victoria's Strategic Plan for Clinical Placements 2012–2015. The primary objective of this project was the development of an evaluation methodology that will be used to assess the overall effectiveness of the implementation of the strategic plan, including an assessment of the plan’s success against its stated outcomes.
